SPARTANBURG, SC: Jay Allen Lewis, 56, died unexpectedly Tuesday, November 15, 2016, in St. Marys, GA.
Jay was a 1979 graduate of Clinton High School, a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving as Boatswain on the USS Jonas Ingram during the Persian Gulf War, and he was employed with Tate Metal Works as a truck driver. He was a Presbyterian, loved his family especially his grandchildren, and enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, riding his Harley Davidson, and watching football.
Born in Clinton, Iowa, he is survived by his parents, Richard and Lois Servis Lewis; his former wife, Beverley Garrett Lewis; son, Jacob “Jake” Lewis (Amberly Cobb) of Mayo; daughter, Jillian “Jilly” Lewis of Mayo; grandchildren, Alanna, Aubrey, Dahlia, and Zeppelin; a sister, Joy K. Mullen (Tim) of Eastanollee, GA; a niece, Jessica Sparks and nephews, Jason Kaup (Stefanie) and Jared Kaup (Janet). He was deceased by maternal grandparents, Robert and Frieda B. Servis; paternal grandparents, Alfred and Dorothy A. Lewis.
The family will receive friends, 1:00-3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 20, at Bobo Funeral Chapel followed by services at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Eddie Guest officiating. Burial will be private.
