Spartanburg – Ray Edward Dillard, Sr., 80, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, December 24, 2016.  Mr. Dillard was the husband of Beatrice “Bea” Edwards Dillard for 53 years and was the son of the late Frank W. and Ella Petty Dillard.

            Mr. Dillard retired from circulation for the Spartanburg Herald Journal and was a member of the National Guard.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg for 51 years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved his family greatly. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

            In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Ray Edward Dillard, Jr. and his wife Diana of Virginia Beach, VA and Lee Dillard and his wife Kathy of Spartanburg; one daughter, Brantlee Dillard Fulmer and her husband Danny; one sister, Rachel D. Jolly and her husband Jim; and six grandchildren, Ray Edward “Chip” Dillard III, Anna Claire Dillard, Mary Katherine Dillard, Emma Grace Dillard, Zane Fulmer and Luke Fulmer.

            Visitation will be 12:30-2:00 pm, Tuesday December 27 at the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg Chapel.  The funeral service will be 2:00 pm officiated by Rev. Bob Neely followed by interment in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
