CAMPOBELLO, SC: Ruth Lindsay Petty Pruitt, 91, wife of Marvin Pruitt, passed away May 18, 2017, at her home in Leesburg, FL. Born in Spartanburg County, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Hoyt Petty and Mary Ellen Easler Petty.
Mrs. Pruitt was a member of Grand Island Baptist Church, FL, and retired after 37 years of service as a telephone operator with Southern Bell and was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. She loved Gospel music and played the piano, organ and guitar, and she taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Rodney E. Pruitt (Betty) of Campobello, SC; a daughter, Glenda Marie Anthony (Bill) of Orlando, FL; three grandchildren, Billy Anthony, Ginger A. Walley, and Stephen Anthony; four great grandchildren, Madison and Aiden Walley and Averie and Ella Anthony. She was predeceased by brother, William V. Petty, and infant brother, James Gladstone Petty; also by two sisters, Margaret Brown and Lois Wood.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 25, at Bobo Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 26, at Bobo Funeral Chapel with Rev. Odell Moseley and Rev. Gary Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
