Vera Collins Arthur

Spartanburg, SC:  Vera Collins Arthur, 92, wife of the late Clyde Edgar Arthur, died April 16, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Adolphus Alexander Collins and Bessie McBride Collins Peeler.

A lifelong resident of Spartanburg County she was formerly employed at Beaumont Mills as a weaver and at Drayton Mills in the cafeteria. She was a member of Cannon’s Camp Ground United Methodist Church. She loved her family, her home, her community and her church. She was always available for her church and community when any needs arose.

Mrs. Arthur is survived by a son David Murray Stacy and wife Norma of Spartanburg; three daughters Gerry S. Swann of Spartanburg, Kathy A. Rogers and husband Gene of Rock Hill, and Mary Arthur-Thornton and husband Richard of Spartanburg; a beloved sister-in-law Mary Nell Chapman. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded by a sister Kathleen Collins Yergin and a son-in-law David Swann.

Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 pm followed by funeral service at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Cannon’s Camp Ground United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. David Ervin and Rev. Ken Bobo. Burial will be at Cannon’s Camp Ground United Methodist Church Cemetery.
