Samuel “S.J.” Smith, Sr.

BOILING SPRINGS, SC:   Samuel James “S.J.” Smith, Sr., 77, husband of Shirley Crowder Smith, died January 9, 2017, at Restorative Care.   He was of the Baptist faith, a veteran of the U.S. Army and formerly employed with Tuscarora as a machine installer/operator.  He was a hardworking man who was devoted to and loved his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Roger Darrell Smith; three daughters, Linda Diane Waddell, Janet Marie Harris (James) and Tina Darlene Smith; three step-daughters, Donna R. Tripp, Sheila J. Scripter, and Tammy L. Boehme; a step-son, James Dean Smith; two brothers, Clinton W. Smith and Kenneth R. Smith (Linda); a sister, Margaret S. Black (William); 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. 

He was predeceased by his parents, Clinton and Lois Henderson Smith; his first wife, Joanne Horton Smith; a son, Samuel James Smith, Jr.; and a brother, Jerry Dean Smith.

The family will have a Memorial Service at a later date.
