Mattie Hewitt Thornton

Spartanburg – Mattie Hewitt Thornton, 84, of Clifton, died Thursday, November 3, 2016.  She was the wife of Elbert Thornton, Jr., and the daughter of the late Belton and Irene Griffin Hewitt.

            Mrs. Thornton was the owner of Cherry Hill Styling Salon and a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church.  She was very artistic; she loved oil painting, flower arranging, decorating cakes, and playing piano. 

            In addition to her husband she is survived by three daughters, Debbie T. Parton and her husband Doug of Clifton, Cindy T. Seagraves and her husband Donnie of Concord, NC, and Robin T. Addington and her husband Eric of Clifton; one sister, Margie Watson and one brother, Ronnie Hewitt and his wife Patsy; six grandchildren, Sonya Ricketts and her husband Danny, Amanda Kirby and her husband Mickey, DJ, Mattie, Claudia and Shane; nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, and a special friend, Tammy Rice.  She was predeceased by a sister, Betty Kelley, a brother, Gary Hewitt, and a great-great granddaughter, Autumn LeAnne Addington.

            Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., today, Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Bobo Funeral Chapel.  Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Bobo Funeral Chapel officiated by Rev. Wayne Major.  Interment will be in Daniel Morgan Memorial Gardens in Cowpens.
