John Martin Tipton

GAFFNEY, SC:  John Martin Tipton, 53, husband of Preidy Guyton Tipton, passed away April 22, 2016, at home.   He was born in Greer, SC, to Shirley Goings Tipton and the late Everette Leon Tipton, Sr.

He was of the Baptist faith, a veteran Corporal with the U.S. Marine Corps, and retired from IAC as a mold press operator.  He loved racing, football, and enjoyed working in his garden.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a son, Joshua M. Tipton (Tina) of Ft. Carson, Colorado; a daughter, Alicia Tipton of Iowa; two brothers, Everette L. Tipton, Jr. of Gaffney and Jimmy L. Tipton (Claudette) of Cowpens; a sister, Karen T. Owensby (Sack) of Cowpens; two step-children, Brandon Mills (Jessica) and Brady Mills of Inman;  a grandson, Judah M. Tipton; and five step-grandchildren:  Dameon, Cameron, Katlyn, Madison, and Aiden.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of John’s life at the home of his brother, Leon Tipton, 213 Cherokee Ridge Drive, Gaffney, Tuesday April 26, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm with Reverend Joey Burnett.
