William Charles Gentry, 62, of Spartanburg, went to be with Jesus on October 4, 2024. A graduate of Broome High School and an Eagle Scout, Charles dedicated his life to serving his community and God, a commitment that was evident in every aspect of his life.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Kathy; his daughters, Amber and Charley; his grandchildren, Ryleigh, Layla, Savannah, and Luke; his mother, Nettie; and his brother, Bryan. He was preceded in death by his father, Scott; his daughter, Ashley Atkins; and his granddaughter, Amariah.
Known for his deep faith and commitment to helping others, he was a beloved son, husband, father, and friend. His passion extended to his local community, where he was an avid supporter of Broome High School and Wofford College Athletics. Charles devoted many years volunteering as a manager of the chain crew for their football teams.
The family will receive friends and relatives at 6261 S. Pine St., Pacolet, S.C. 29372, on Sunday, October 6, from 3:00-6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Spartanburg Humane Society at 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, S.C. 29303
