Thomas "Calvin" Lovin, 78, passed away on May 17, 2025. Born on August 31, 1946, in Cowpens, Calvin was the devoted husband of Jo Ann Lovin and the beloved son of the late John B. Lovin and Annie Belle Lovin.
A proud patriot and devoted family man, Calvin served honorably in the U.S. Army National Guard, retiring from the military after serving 25 years and later retired from a long and dedicated career with Norfolk Southern. He was an active member of the Hejaz Shrine, the Spartanburg Shrine Club, the Mid-City Shrine Club and New Prospect Masonic Lodge #143. His commitment to service, both military and civic, was matched only by his generosity of spirit and unwavering kindness.
Calvin's legacy lives on through his children, Leslie Wiley (Mikey) and April Lovin (JJ Kelly); his stepdaughter, Sonya Boyter (Eddie); his cherished sisters, Geraldine Nichols (William "Buddy") and Sherry Lovin Parker; his special sisters-in-law, Lavada Nabors and Linda Machi (Nick); and his special brother-in-law, Kenny Parker. He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A lifelong Clemson fan and fixture in his community, Calvin was affectionately known as "the Mayor of the Neighberhood." He truly lived up to his name - Lovin - bringing joy, laughter and a helping hand to all who knew him. He was deeply loved by his family, friends and neighbors, who will remember his warmth, wisdom and sense of humor.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Bobo Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM at Good Shepherd Memorial Park, with Rev. Dr. Keith Taylor officiating. Masonic Rites and Military Honors will be observed at the cemetery in tribute to Calvin's service and dedication.
In honoring Calvin's life, we remember a man who lived fully, gave freely and loved deeply.
