Shirley Naomi Pennington

Shirley Naomi Pennington, 86, went home to be with the Lord on November 6, 2023. Born February 22, 1936, Shirley was the wife of the late Donald Lee Pennington and the daughter of the late William “Bill” Johnson and Bertha Johnson.

Shirley was of the Baptist Faith, she loved her Lord and Savior. She had the most infectious laugh and she would beat anybody in a game of cards. She was the Yahtzee queen . She was hilarious and had a great sense of humor. She loved her family, especially her siblings. It was always a laugh, a feast of food and walks down memory lane when they were together. Some of her best times were when she ran a restaurant with her sister, Sandra, in Charleston. Her laugh, love and heart will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Robin Robbins of Spartanburg; Grandchildren, Kevin D. Fortenberry, Teresa Robbins Zavala, Liza A Fortenberry, April Watson (Andrew) and Heather Grace; five great grandchildren, Deziree Grace, Destiny Robbins, Hunter Watson and Kassidi Zavala; Mike Melton, whom she loved as a son;  and a special daughter in law, Laura Ann Stafford.

She was predeceased by three sons, Henry “Nick”Collins Fortenberry III, Darryl Keith Fortenberry & William Douglas Fortenberry; her dearest siblings, Dennis Johnson (Dorothy Johnson), Joyce Ellis & Sandra Robbins.

A visitation will be held at Bobo Funeral Chapel on Thursday, November 16, 2023 form 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
