Nancy Joan Childress Norton, 79, went home to be with the Lord on July 23, 2024. She was the wife of the late Wade Roy Norton, Sr., and the daughter of the late William Harrison Childress Sr., and Margaret Mae Emory Childress.
Nancy was a lifelong faithful member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church. She retired from Hoechst Celanese as security supervisor. She got to know everyone she would meet wherever she would be, and all who met and knew her loved her. She was a very strong woman who persevered through many life-threatening struggles overcoming them all. Amid those struggles, she found the time to get to know and help others around her. Most of all she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren more than anything in life. We loved her so much and were so thankful and blessed for all the special times we had with her.
Nancy is survived by daughters, Darla Ellison (Mike) and Traci Swaney (Kevin); grandchildren, Patrick Ellison (Nicole), Brandon Coates (Camilla), Olivia Harley (Whitfield), Cameron Coates, Cierra Norton, Maddie Norton, Hannah Norton, Kaleb Swaney and Karlee Swaney; great grandchildren, Lily Harley, Kinley Ellison, Camdon Coates, Cooper Harley, Brailla Coates, Paxton Ellison and Alaia Coates.
Nancy is predeceased by a son, Wade Roy Norton II, brothers, William “Billy” Harrison Childress Jr., and Howard Dean Childress; and a sister, Barbara Jean Emory; and a great granddaughter Cadon Joy Coates.
The family will receive friends at Bobo Funeral Chapel from 1:00 – 2:00pm, Friday, July 26, 2024. Funeral service will follow at Bobo Funeral Chapel at 2:00pm officiated by Dr. Ron “PR” Culbertson. Burial will be private.
