Michael “Mike” Fay Greene
Michael “Mike” Fay Greene, passed away at age 73, Monday, November 4, 2024. He was the husband of Donna Arthur Greene and the son of the late Clyde Fay and Mary Jane Freeman Greene.
Michael graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1969, and he received an Associates Degree in Engineering from Spartanburg Community College. He was the engineering manager at DSI Systems for over 30 years. Michael was an awesome machine designer with his machines running in companies all over the United States. In his free time, he loved fishing, listening to music and playing guitar. In his earlier years, he was known for pitching no hitters and being MVP of his baseball team. When he wasn’t on the ball field, you could find him playing lead guitar and singing with his band. Michael and his band won Spartanburg’s first Battle of the Bands. He was known by his children for making his famous hash, loving summers in South Carolina and fishing on a pier.
In addition to his wife Donna of 55 years, Michael is survived by 6 children, Amy Henderson (Emery), Michael “Bubba” Greene (Lana), Kerry Smith (Paul), Kathryn Biershenk (Jason), Lara Pappas (Josh), and William Greene; 9 grandchildren, Andrew, Emma and Mason Greene, Abby Blanton, Waylon Smith, Haven, Victoria and Lenore Beirshenk, and Drayton Pappas; and a sister Lynn Davis (Rick).
A memorial service will be held at 11:00, Friday, November 8, 2024, at First Baptist Church Cowpens, officiated by Rev. Nathan Dye. Visitation will immediately follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
