It is with great sadness we share that Michael "Mikey" O’Brien, born on September 29, 1961, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Spartanburg, SC on December 6, 2024. A private memorial will be held in January to celebrate Mike’s life.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, John F. O’Brien, Jr., his brother, Ricky O’Brien, his nephew, Jeremey Hastings, and his brother-in-law, Jim Cannon. He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Peggy O’Brien, and his siblings: Kathy Hendricks (Fred), Mo Bujak (Joe), Colleen O’Brien (Jim Cannon), Eisey Stanton (Dennis), Laureen O’Brien(Ed Fus), John O’Brien(Andy Healy) and his multiple nieces and nephews.
Mike possessed a gentle soul that radiated kindness to all who knew him. His beautiful singing voice was a gift that brought joy and comfort to many—a melody that will forever echo in the hearts of those who had the privilege of hearing it.
Though he is no longer with us, Mike’s memory will remain a source of solace to his family and all whose lives he touched. Donations can be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness at NAMI.org.
