Martha Drake Childress

Spartanburg, SC:  Martha Drake Childress, 81, passed away at her home, Saturday, October 9, 2021. Born December 10, 1939 in Hendersonville, NC, she was the wife of the late William Harrison Childress and the daughter of the late Mitchell Vernon and Lydia Watkins Drake.

Martha retired from the Milliken Corp. as a dye lab technician. During her retirement she spent much of her time doing what she enjoyed, sitting on the porch and reading. She was baptized as a member of Croft Baptist Church as a young girl.

She is survived by a son Kirk Childress; and a sister Louise Newman. She was predeceased by three brothers, George Drake, Mitchell Drake and Boyce Drake; and a sister Lois Nichols.
