Laura Ruth (Ward) West

Laura Ruth Ward West, 86, of Lyman passed away July 15, 2024 at Ashlan Village in Lyman. A native of Spartanburg County she was daughter of the late Laura Annis Powell and James Martin Ward and was the widow of Donald K. West.

Mrs. West was member of Friendship Baptist Church; a 1957 graduate of Boiling Springs High School; owner of A&A Driving School; a representative for Legg's pantyhose and after retirement she worked in retail for Community Cash and Wal Mart.

Survivors include one son Donald K. West Jr. and a loving daughter in-law Sherri Hammett West; two grandchildren Justin West and Eliza Barnwell and husband Tyler; three great grandchildren Paul Eugene Barnwell, Cole James-Lee Barnwell and Nellie Alice Barnwell and one nephew Brian Morrow.

She was pre-deceased in addition to her parents and husband by one sister Judy Sellars.

The family will receive friends on Thursday July 18, 2024 at Friendship Baptist Church from 10:00 to 11:00. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM conducted by Senior Pastor Alan Bagwell. Burial will be private. Honorary pallbearers will be: Justin West, Tyler Barnwell, Paul Barnwell, Cole Barnwell and Brian Morrow.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Church Children's Playground Fund, 1600 Holly Springs Rd. Lyman, SC 29365.

A special note of appreciation to the Ashlan Village Palmetto Memory Care Unit who made Mom feel at home.  Also a special thank you to Agape Hospice, Sharon, Robyn, Sherry and Savannah for providing exceptional care to Mom.
