Larry Gene Hyder
Larry Gene Hyder, 85, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, November 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born September 6, 1940, he was the son of the late Curtis Lee and Katie Webb Hyder, and he was the husband of Patricia “Pat” Emory Hyder.
Larry was a veteran of the US Army, served 35 years with the Cowpens Fire Department and retired from working in the meat market of several local grocery stores.
Larry had a love for the Lord and a love for singing gospel music. He was a member of Resurrection Baptist Church, and past member of Thompson Chapel Baptist Church and Davis Memorial Baptist church where he faithfully served as deacon, music director and Sunday School teacher.
In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by his sons Terry Gene Hyder (Vicki), and Richard Leroy Hyder; a special granddaughter Shannon Ravan who helped take care of her grandfather, and Tristan Craigo; great grandchildren Melanie Burkhead, Eric Burkhead, Grayson Craigo, and Ashton Richendollar; great-great grandchildren Carter Smith and Ben Smith; sisters Eulalia Seay, Mildred Sams and Jane Riley; and a brother in law Kenneth Emory (Norma). He was predeceased by a brother Murrell Hyder; sisters Gladys Jett and Dorothy Breitenbach.
A graveside service will be 2:00pm, Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Thompson Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Austin Wagner, Rev. Charlie Sams, Rev Eddie Arrington and Rev. David Frost.
