Joretta Seals Gilbert

Joretta “Jett” Seals Gilbert, 91, passed away on November 18, 2024. She was the wife of the late James Thomas Gilbert and the daughter of the late Otis Seals and Georgia Bell (Bellamy) Seals.

Joretta was a graduate of Cowpens High School and spent her career at Mary Black Memorial Hospital for 45 years. She was of the Baptist faith and was baptized at Clifton Second Baptist Church over 60 years ago. She then was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church since 1967. Joretta and her late husband owned an antique business. She was a witty, positive and fun to be around, an all-around amazing person.

She is survived by her great nephews, Caleb Shropshier (Brittany) and Avery Shropshier; great nieces, Kim and Tina; Cousin Betty; her brother-in-law, Pliny; her beloved caregivers, Jessie, Gretta, Patsy and Patricia; and special friends (Red Hatters), Betty Hamrick and Judy Langley.

Joretta is predeceased by siblings, Blanche Seals Hipp, Mildred Seals Mathis, James Carson Seals, Mary Dreama Seals Shropshier; a niece, Wendell Goldstone; and a nephew, Barry Shropshier.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Bobo Funeral Chapel from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The memorial service will follow at 4:00 PM on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Bobo Funeral Chapel. Pastor Neil Keisler and Chaplain Darnell Durrah will be officiating.
