John William “Sam” Lawing

Spartanburg, SC:  John William “Sam” Lawing, 89, died Saturday March 17, 2018 in the Regional Hospice House.  Mr. Lawing was the husband of Betty Hammett Lawing and the son of the late John C. and Mary Morrow Lawing.

Mr. Lawing previously worked at Flowers Bakers, retired from Kohler Co., and was self-employed in textile sales. He was a member of Cudd Memorial Baptist Church and taught the G.A. Rogers Sunday School Class.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Ronnie Lawing (Mary) and Darrell Lawing (Brenda); two daughters Judy Glass and Tammy Nicolas (Omar); a step-son Steve Hammett (Evon); a step daughter Kim Hammett Worley; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons Kenneth Lawing and Johnny Lawing,  and a daughter Libby Fowler.

Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 pm Tuesday March 20, 2018 at Bobo Funeral Chapel followed by funeral services at 2:00 pm officiated by Rev. Ronnie Norris, Rev. Danny Garrett, and Rev. Dusty Martin. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
