Jerad Lee Lowrey

Jerad Lee Lowrey, 35, of Spartanburg, SC (formerly of Pekin, IL) died Saturday. January 23, 2022.  Jerad was born February 5, 1986, in Peoria, IL, the son of Karen Lowrey and Cary Stortz. He attended Pekin High School and lived and worked in Pekin until moving to Albany, NY, and after few years, settling in Spartanburg. 

He was an intensely loyal friend and family member. He was always quick to help someone and make sure people were taken care of. In fact, many cousins and aunts thought of Jerad more as a brother, a testament to just how close he was with his family.

A signature of Jerad’s personality, he loved to make people laugh, no more so than when he was on stage as a standup comedian.  For years, Jerad performed at Peoria’s Jukebox Comedy Club.  Several times, he even organized his own comedy shows in central IL and he also performed while living in Albany.

Jerad was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Jerry Lowrey, and his paternal grandmother, Bonnie Knowles.  He is survived by his mother, Karen (Lewis Lowrey), of Gilson, IL, his father, Cary (Jamie) of Peoria, IL, his younger siblings; brother Ben Lowrey (Haley Owen) of Peoria, IL, brother Alex Lowrey of Pekin, IL, sister Sarah Stortz of Peoria, IL, and brother Ben Stortz of Peoria, IL. He also leaves his maternal grandmother, Margaret Lowrey of Arvada, CO, as well as many close cousins, aunts, and uncles.

A celebration of life will be held for Jerad at the Jukebox Comedy Club (3527 W. Farmington Rd., Peoria, IL 61604) on Saturday February 5th, Jerad’s birthday. The celebration will be held from 4-6pm.  Please come ready to share a funny story about Jerad and even watch a couple of his standup comedy videos as we remember him.
