James “Jimmy” McGlohorn, passed away on July 13, 2025, at the age of 74, in Spartanburg, SC. Born on January 16, 1951, in Cayce, SC, he was the son of the late James Burt McGlohorn Jr and Agnes Latham McGlohorn.
Jimmy was a man of generosity, charm and occasional stubbornness. He was known for buying things that he did not necessarily need, but that he thought someone else might be able to use. He cared about his family whether as a son, father, brother or husband - and showed his love through actions. Jimmy also was also an avid Byrnes Rebels Football supporter.
A graduate of Mid-Carolina High School, Jimmy was a letterman in football, track and was part of the 1969 state champion 4x100 relay team. Upon serving in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam, he pursued a career in aggregate hauling and safety. After retiring, he was able to travel more and was looking forward to future RV trips.
James was predeceased by his wife of 33 years, Rita Cudd McGlohorn in 2018. They were survived by their sons, Bryan McGlohorn (Debbie), Jonathan McGlohorn (Delphine) and Joey Loftis (Ashley); eight grandchildren, Kory (Karson), Ansleigh (Tyler), Blake, Bryson, Emily, Olivia, Elliott and Margot; great-grandchildren, Merritt, Zeffie, and Campbell; his sister, Joanne; brothers-in-law, Chris, Ralph and Ronald; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jimmy was predeceased by his brother, John Daniel “Danny”; and his sister, Cindy.
He was engaged to be married to Iris Pierson of Inman, SC, who has been steadfast in her support of him through his recent health challenges.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, on July 17, 2025 at Bobo Funeral Chapel located at 1860 Cannons Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC.
