James Harold Thomason

Mr. James Harold Thomason, age 80 of Spartanburg, SC went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at his home in Spartanburg. Mr. Thomason was born on January 30, 1941 in Whitney, SC to the late James L. and Nora Gilliam Thomason. He was retired from Pike Electric and Firestone Steel, he was a Mason and a Shriner, and he served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of East Spartanburg Wesleyan Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Mabry Thomason, and a son, Rodney James Thomason. He was also predeceased by two stepdaughters, Lori S. Knight and Kathryn S. Bridges, a stepson, Thomas Shawley, and a sister Lucile T. Parks.

He is survived by a stepson, Jon L. Shawley of Wellford and a son-in-law, Everette Bridges and grandchildren, Jamie Knight (Annie), Katie Cowart (Jay), Jordan Knight, and Joshua Shawley, and four great grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings; six sisters, Dorothy Hammett, Vera Israel (Bob), Joyce Mintz, Vivian Raines (Ray), Alma Montemayor (Monty) and Freida Martin; two brothers, Claude Thomason (Pam) and Lynn Thomason (Patsi), and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be 3:00pm April 25, 2021 at East Spartanburg Wesleyan Church, officiated by Rev. Jason Sain. The families will be at their respective homes in Spartanburg.
