James Ray Lyda
Spartanburg, SC: James Ray Lyda, 94, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, September 10, 2022. Born May 13, 1928, he was the son of the later Spurgeon and Anna Pearl Lyda.
James was retired from the Spartanburg Water Works following 47 years of service. He was a member of Bible Truth Baptist Church. He was a friendly man. He never met a stranger and loved nothing more than to talk to anyone he met. He was a generous man who was willing to help anyone in need.
He is survived by a son Eugene Lyda and wife Barbara; a grandson Ray Foster; a granddaughter Ashley Guyton and husband Derrick; great grandchildren Mason Guyton and Branch Guyton. He was predeceased by a son Kenneth Lyda; a daughter Teresa Foster; a brother Thomas Lyda; and a sister Elizabeth Gossett.
A celebration of life will be 4:00pm, Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Davis Memorial Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor David Biggs, Rev. Gerald Thomas, and Associate Pastor Rick Lunsford.
