The Peterson family is saddened to announce the passing of Hobert R "Pete" Peterson on June 27, 2024. Born on January 2, 1944, in Spartanburg, SC, Pete completed his earthly journey at the age of eighty, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience.
Pete's life was one marked by service and dedication. He served with distinction in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968, demonstrating the honor and commitment that would define his character. Upon returning to civilian life, Pete applied his talents as a chemical technician at Hoechst Fibers for twenty-three years. His industrious nature led him to the trucking industry, where he eventually owned and operated a dump truck business with his brothers.
A graduate of Cowpens High School and Spartanburg Technical College, Pete was esteemed by his classmates and instructors alike. His hobbies of fishing and tinkering were only surpassed by his love for storytelling, which endeared him to many.
Pete is lovingly remembered by his wife, Sue; his brothers and sisters, Janice (Rodney), Carl (Dot), Ronnie, Lee, Linda, and Rhonda; his children, Peter Wayne (Trisha), Mark (Karen), and Danielle (Taylor); and his adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He joins in rest his late parents, Gordan and Avonell; his brother, Carroll; and granddaughter, Brittney.
Visitation will be at Bobo Funeral Home Monday, July 1st at 10:00 am followed by a service to honor Pete's life at 11:00am at Bobo Funeral Chapel
1860 Cannons Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC.
The Peterson family suggests that in place of flowers, donations be directed to the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare Hospice Home, as a tribute to Pete's caring nature and his commitment to community support.
Pete's absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who knew him, yet his spirit and the memories shared will continue to provide comfort and joy to those he leaves behind.
