Spartanburg, SC: Hettie Darby-Voegeli, 88, passed away at home Sunday, June 14, 2020. Born December 24, 1931 in Greenville, SC she was wife of the late Henry “Bill” Darby, Sr. and the late Richard Voegeli. She was the daughter of Alice Holcombe Vaughn and the late John Vaughn, Sr.
Hettie loved to bowl, play cards, and square dance. She was a member of various bowling leagues and square dance clubs. She was also a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church.
In addition to her mother she is survived by a son Henry V. Darby, Jr. and wife Caitlin of Greensboro, GA; two brothers, Bobby Holcombe and wife Rory of Leesville, and Henry Vaughn and wife Mary of Belton; two sisters Mary Strawn of Summerville, and Elizabeth Gambrel of Belton; and two sons-in-law, J.M. “Mac” Rutland, and William “Bill” Andrews. She is also survived by six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She was predeceased by two daughters, Alice “Patsy” Rutland, and Debra Andrews; and three brothers, Roger Vaughn, John Vaughn, Jr. and Thomas Vaughn.
A memorial service will be 11:00am, Friday, June 19, 2020 at Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Chris Snelgrove.
