Gary Leland Bailey

Gary Bailey, 86, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on October 1, 2023.  He worked at Community Cash 18 years and retired in 1999 from the post office where he was a letter carrier for 35 years.  He and his wife loved to travel; they traveled throughout the US.  His pleasures included working in his yard, piddling in his building, and, most of all, Sunday dinners when his family came from three different churches to eat together every week. He loved animals, especially his beagle Buster, who he called his buddy.

He is predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Mary Bailey, his brothers Marvin, Melvin, and Junior, and his sisters Clara and Joyce.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Edith, his daughter, Carole, grandchildren Michael, Rachel, Andrew, and Bethany, and his great-grandchildren Jordan, Grayson and Oliver, brother, Eber, brother-in-law JW, sister-in-law Shirley, and the congregation at Temple church. 

A memorial will be held on Saturday, October 7, at 11:00 am at Temple Church located at 171 Watkins Court, Spartanburg, SC.  The service will be officiated by reverends Mark Lawing and Rex Keaton.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Spartanburg Humane Society.
