Edward Ellis Brown
Spartanburg, SC: Edward Ellis Brown, 91, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020. Born August 26, 1929, he was the husband of the late Henrietta D. Brown, and the son of the late Ellis and Jeanette Brown.
He worked 36 years for Spartanburg School District #7, and retired as supervisor of grounds and maintenance. He was one of the founding members of the Glendale Fire Department, and served as a fireman and commissioner for 59 years. He was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church and attended Glendale Baptist Church.
He is survived by a son Stanley Brown and wife Tangela; a daughter Rebecca Hammett and husband Glenn; grandsons Travis Hammett and wife Morgan, Marcus Hammett, Rylan Brown, and Blake Keeler and wife Leah; two brothers Robert Brown, Sr. and wife Ann, and Jimmy Brown and wife Joyce; and three sisters Elizabeth Mullinax, Wanda Hawkins, and Martha Simmons and husband Bobby. He was predeceased by a sister Louise Fleming.
Visitation will be 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Bobo Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Celeste Cathcart. Entombment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Members of the Glendale Fire Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.
