Douglas Martin O’Brien, 66, passed away from Interstitial Lung Disease on May 1, 2023. He was the husband of Susan O’Brien and the son of the late Robert and Rita O’Brien.
Doug was a graduate of St. John Fisher College and worked as a Software Engineer. Doug was well liked by everyone he met. He had a witty sense of humor that made everyone smile. Doug loved music throughout his life. He played in several bands, and continued guitar and enjoyed cruising and karaoke. Doug was a talented athlete excelling especially on the golf course. He loved to watch Notre Dame and Buffalo Bills football. Doug had a great love for his children and grandchildren and he will be missed.
Doug is survived by a son, Stephen O’Brien (Bea); daughters, Catherine Schinlever (Michael) and Jennifer Kramer (David); step children, Andrew Holleran (Krista) and Kathryn Hinojos (Eric); a brother, Kevin O’Brien (Pamela); sister, Anne-Marie Haskell (Darrell); grandchildren, Avery, Alexander, Paige and Kaylee; step grandchildren, Regina, Addison and Oliver; and nieces, nephews and other family members.
He is predeceased by a brother, Thomas O’Brien; and a sister, Roberta Colgan.
The family would like to thank those who took such wonderful care of Doug, especially Dr. Mirzan of the Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, and Dr. Delacruz, Agape Care, and Comfort Keepers in Spartanburg, SC.
A memorial service is planned for June 3rd, 12:00 p.m., at the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery at 2461 Lake Ave., Rochester, NY, 14712.
