David B. Mercer

David B. Mercer, 68, passed away on May 11, 2023. He was the husband of Dianne Mercer and the son of the late Herbert E. Mercer Sr. and Juanita Mercer.

He was born in Kingstree, SC on May 30, 1954. David attended Westminster Presbyterian Church, Spartanburg, and was a member of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, Kingstree, SC.  He was a member of the Lion’s Club of Boiling Springs and was a past president of the Spartanburg Evening Lion’s Club. David graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta, GA and was a SC and NC licensed funeral director and embalmer. He was also a member of the SCFDA (South Carolina Funeral Directors Association).  David enjoyed his small group coffee club.

He is survived by a brother, Herbert “Sonny” E. Mercer Jr. (Joan); sister in law, Brenda Coggins (Tommy); and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 15, 2023 at Westminster Presbyterian Church from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 1:00 PM. Rev. Steve Wise will be conducting the service. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
