David Steven Lancaster, Sr., 69 passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 after a hard-fought and lengthy battle with cancer. David is survived by his wife of 16 years, Donna Riley Lancaster of the home. David was the son of the late Luke Lancaster and Ruby Lister Hensley and the son-in-law of Jane Hyder Riley and the late Walter “Bud” Riley.
David served his country in the US Army, rank at discharge E5, training many Rangers at Frank D. Merrell, Mountain Ranger Camp in Dahlonega, GA. He also served in Germany, South Korea and the Vietnam Era. He retired July 2019, from the Service Department of Benson Nissan of Spartanburg and was a member of The Shop of Spartanburg, motorcycle club. As a member of Drayton Baptist Church, David cherished his church family.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his children, David S. Lancaster, II, MD (Jennifer) of Charlotte NC, Brittany M. Brown (Kyle) of Chesnee SC and Dustin J. Smith of Moore SC; grandchildren Hayden, Luke and Ben Lancaster, Addison and Easton Brown. Sister Elaine Pritchard and brother Lanny Lancaster; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Sonny Lancaster.
Visitation will be 1:30 – 2:30pm, Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Drayton Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 2:30pm, conducted by Rev. David Frost.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, escorted by The Shop of Spartanburg and Virginia. All biker friends of David are welcome to ride in the procession to Sunset.
