David Eugene "Papa" Jett
David Eugene “Papa” Jett passed away Friday, November 14, 2025, at the age of 94. He is predeceased by his parents Tommy and Carrie Fowler Jett and six siblings: Fannie May Loving, William Baxter “Buck” Jett, Katherine “Kitty” Crocker, Joyce Bishop, Dock Edward Jett and TJ Jett.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Emma Riddle Jett; his sons Marty (Tammy) Jett and David (Denise) Jett and his niece, who was like a daughter, Marie (Jerry) Bishop; his grandchildren Michael (Madeline) Jett, Matthew (Janay) Jett, Amanda Jett, Joseph (Ava) Jett, Andrea (Tristan) Boccucci, Jacob (Nicole) Jett and Ashlyn (Timothy) Taylor; and his great-grand children Mary Liz Boccucci, Michael Boccucci, Hayes Jett and Miles Jett.
“Papa Jett,” as he was affectionately known, was a devout follower of Jesus, his precious Lord and Savior. He was a member of Glendale Baptist Church and served there for over 70 years as a member, deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was always ready and willing to share the good news of Jesus and teach others about him. Papa Jett was a wonderful mentor and teacher to so many during his lifetime. He wanted everyone to know how important it is to have a personal relationship with Jesus because only through the blood of Jesus can you be saved.
Papa Jett served four years in the Navy during the Korean War, worked for almost twenty years for Pepsi and finished his career as an insurance salesman for Liberty Life and Atlantic Coast. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, farming, and spending time with his family. He will always be remembered for the love he shared.
Upon his homecoming, his Lord said unto him, “Well done thou good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter into the joy of the Lord.” Matthew 25:21
Visitation will be 11:00am-12:00pm, Wednesday November 19, 2025 at Glendale Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow, officiated by Rev. Daniel Blackwell and Rev. Ralph Jett. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery.
