Obituary

Connor "Read" Patton passed away July 26, 2022. He was born to the late Ernest Gibbes and “Connor” Read Patton , Dec. 27, 1956 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. He graduated from Spartanburg High School, served 4 yrs. in the U.S. Air Force, and then graduated from the Univ. of South Carolina. After college he worked several jobs before settling at Duer/Carolina Coil.

Read explored the world through books. As he matured, his passions became military history, politics, and jokes. His unique perspective, depth of knowledge, and wit challenged all of us to see the world differently.

He is survived by one sister, Charlotte (Bob) Richardson and her daughter, Kate Tinsley; a brother, Ernest Gibbes (Keiko) Patton, Jr. and their sons and daughters; and a brother, Stephen Lenoir (Penni) Patton. 

Read's family and friends will celebrate his life at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the Goodall Center, 351 Broadway St. (near the Glendale Post Office). Donations in memory of Read may be made to Spartanburg County Libraries (for Children's Book Programs), 151 South Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
