Carrie Maxine Cotton King, 93, went home to the Lord on Thursday, November 13, 2025. She was born February 9, 1932, in Bellview, New Mexico, to the late Adrun Bellmont and Celestia Banium Cotton.
Carrie's compassion and dedication to caring for others led her to pursue nursing, training at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. Throughout her career, she served patients in Arizona and Indiana before settling in South Carolina, where she worked in pediatrics and the Heart Center at Spartanburg Regional and Mary Black hospitals.
A woman of deep faith, Carrie was a devoted member of Skylyn Presbyterian Church, which she attended for many years alongside her beloved husband, the late Ira Paul King.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Paul King; her son, Gary D. King; two brothers; and four sisters. She is survived by her son, Steven R. King and his wife Reba Kay; Gary D. King's wife, Marcia King, her daughter, MeLinda King Osburn and her husband John; and her grandchildren: Stephanie K. MacLeod and her husband Shawn, Morgan A. Osburn, John S. Osburn, Michael D. King, and Sarah.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Bobo Funeral Chapel. The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 24, 2025, at Bobo Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Matt Richardson. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Carrie's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Spartanburg Humane Society. The families will be at their respective homes.
