Carrie Bailey

Spartanburg, SC:  Carrie Bailey, 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ peacefully at her home surrounded by her family Friday, March 13, 2020. Born April 11, 1935 in Monroe, TN, she was the wife of the late Walter Bailey and the daughter of the late Troy and Reba Smith.

Carrie was also a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg. She was a teacher’s aide at Hoover Elementary School in Hazel Park, Michigan for forty years, a loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.

Carrie is survived by a son Chris Bailey and wife Lenore of Clarksville, TN; a daughter Amy Bailey of Spartanburg; five grandchildren Renae Bailey of Tucson, AZ, Holly Alires and husband Michael of West Valley City UT, Tiffany Bailey of Clarksville, TN, Brett Bailey and Caleb Bailey of Spartanburg; and five great grandchildren Christopher Meeks, Trent Alires, Raelynn Josleyn, Jeremiah Josleyn and Harper Alires. She is predeceased by a daughter Ginger Bailey; two sisters Lela Nichols and Lola McDonald.

Visitation will be 12:00 - 1:30pm Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Drayton Baptist Church, 1645 Fernwood Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A memorial service will immediately follow at 1:30 pm, officiated by Michael Latzka and Chuck Wallington.
