Anne Davis Ratliff, 96, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at her home following an extended illness. Born on October 4, 1929, in Columbia, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Emma Holmes Davis and John Quincy Davis.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 78 years, Walter C. Ratliff, in 2025, and her daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Ratliff Fenner, also in 2025.
Anne was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and Converse College, where she earned a degree in music. She shared her love of music by teaching piano in her home for many years. A charter member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Anne established the Anne Ratliff Circle and served faithfully in numerous roles, including hosting a Thursday morning Bible study and prayer group in her home. She was also the owner and operator of The Salt Box on Oakland Avenue. Anne loved the Lord, her husband Walt, and her children and grandchildren deeply.
She is survived by her sons, Walter C. “Rocky” Ratliff, Jr. (Marielon) of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and John Davis Ratliff (Trish) of Spartanburg, South Carolina; her son-in-law, Ron Fenner, Jr. of Spartanburg; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Megan Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions in Anne’s memory may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1320 Fernwood-Glendal Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
The family will receive friends following the service at a reception in Poston Hall.
