Marvin Pruitt
CAMPOBELLO, SC: Marvin Glynn Pruitt, 93, widower of Ruth Petty Pruitt, passed away June 12, 2019, at Brookdale Senior Center in Tavares, FL. Born in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of the late Ernest Lawson Pruitt and Josephine Holden Pruitt.
Mr. Pruitt was a member of Grand Island Baptist Church, FL, and retired after years of working through the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 15. He was active in the church and he visited many elderly people who were sick or terminally ill. He loved his family, his country, sports, Gospel music, having conversations with people and eating sweets. Mr. Pruitt was a veteran of the US Navy during World War II. He was decorated for battles won in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and received a Purple Heart for being wounded in action.
Marvin is survived by a son, Rodney E. Pruitt (Betty) of Campobello, SC; a daughter, Glenda Marie Anthony (Bill) of Orlando, FL; three grandchildren, Billy Anthony, Ginger A. Walley, and Stephen Anthony; four great grandchildren, Madison and Aiden Walley and Averie and Ella Anthony. He was predeceased by brother, Arthur Pruitt; also by sisters, Marie (Tink) Johnson, Bertha Solesbee, Mary Riddle, and Ruby Walker.
Visitation will be 12:00-2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 19, at Bobo Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 19, at Bobo Funeral Chapel with Rev. Odell Moseley officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
