Spartanburg – Jo Ann Winkler Emory, 76, of Spartanburg, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at her home.

            Born in Spartanburg County she was the daughter of the late Lawton W. and Elize Belle Ruff Winkler.  She was a worker at White Oak Manor in Spartanburg for a number of years before becoming disabled.  She was of the Baptist faith.    

            Mrs. Emory was predeceased by her loving husband, Joe Dean Emory; her son Jerry Dean Emory; and a great grandson, Jeremy Emory.  Surviving are her daughter, Tina Whelchel Cothran and her husband James of Wellford; grandson David Emory and his wife Taylor;  a daughter-in-law, Cindy Turner of Boiling Springs; a great grandson, Jordan Emory of Cowpens; a great grand-daughter, Isabella-Grace Emory of Wellford; and two great grand-daughters, Ryleigh and Pazeleigh Emory of Gaffney.     

     Mrs. Emory was a loving mother, wife, and Nanny.  She was a great friend to the late Marilyn “Mert” Louise Hollifield Sutherland and Mrs. Josephine “Nana” Flemings of Glendale.  She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

     Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens officiated by Chaplain Sandra Smith.  The family will receive friends in the cemetery following the service.
