Emily Scott Alverson
SPARTANBURG, SC: Emily Scott Alverson, 82, wife of the late George Alverson, passed away February 25, 2018 at White Oak Estates. Born, January 12, 1936, to the late Joel and Margaret Arthur Scott, she was the youngest of six daughters.
Emily was a graduate of Cowpens High School and Keller’s Beauty School and was the owner of Emily’s Beauty Shop for more than 60 years. She was a life-time member of Cannon’s Camp Ground UM Church.
She is survived by daughter, Natalie A. Stinson and husband, Tim; daughter-in-law, Tammy Alverson; sister, Nancy S. Fortune and husband, John; four grandchildren, Clancy and Landon Stinson, Adam and Taylor Alverson; one great-grandson, Alex Alverson. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Nick Alverson and four sisters, Mary Lipscomb, Juleen Collins, Margaret Hammett and JoAnn Easler.
Visitation will be 3:00-4:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 28, at Cannon’s Camp Ground United Methodist Church. Funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Joe Blackwelder and Rev. Jim Ivey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
