Ira Paul King, 92, went home to be with the Lord on April 24, 2024. He was the husband of Carrie Maxine King for 70 years and the son of the late Emmanuel Wesley and Lucy Mahon King.
He was a member of Skylyn Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Whitney Masonic Lodge #264 and a member of the American Legion Post 28 (Duncan Park). Ira was in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. He was a Ship Association Member of the USS Essex and the USS Point Cruise. He was the former owner of both Gaffney Business Machines and King Business Machines and Computers. Ira loved the lake, boating, fishing and traveling with his wife, Carrie.
Ira is survived by a son, Steven Ray King (Reba Kay); a daughter, MeLinda King Osburn (John); grandchildren, Stephanie D. King MacLeod (Shawn), Morgan Amelia Osburn, John Sterling Osburn and Michael D. King.
He is predeceased by a son, Gary Douglas King (Marcia); a brother, Robert George King; and sisters, Alvona King Combs and Ruby Louise King.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Bobo Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Bobo Funeral Chapel. Rev. Matt Richardson and Rev. Peter Wade will be conducting the service. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
