George Alverson
SPARTANBURG, SC: George Edward Alverson, 82, husband of Emily Scott Alverson died at home Saturday, March 31, 2012. Born July 4, 1929, in Campobello, he was the son of the late Frank and Ruth Bellew Alverson.
Mr. Alverson graduated from New Prospect High School, was a veteran of the U.S. Army, retired from the Supply Room at Spartan Mills, was a member of Cannon’s Camp Ground United Methodist Church, a Mason at Converse Lodge, and an avid golfer.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Nick A. Alverson and wife, Tammy of Cowpens; a daughter Natalie A. Stinson and husband, Tim of Spartanburg; four sisters, Thelma A. Atkins; Dorothy A. Clayton and husband, Harley; Iris A. Justice and husband, Leroy all of Inman; and Mildred A. Phillips and husband, Frankie of Lyman; and four grandchildren, Clancy and Landon Stinson, and Adam and Taylor Alverson.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, April 2, at Bobo Funeral Chapel, 1860 Cannons Campground Road. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 3, at Cannon’s Camp Ground United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Doug Gilliland. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Alverson will lie in state in the church from 1:00-2:00 p.m. before the service.
Memorials may be made to the Cannon’s Camp Ground United Methodist Church, 3450 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC, 29307.

Sorry for your loss. I can remember when I was younger George and Paul coming to granny greenways. Always used to love seeing them there. Again sorry for your loss and prayers are with you all.
