Johnny Dalton

INMAN, SC:  John  Randal Dalton, husband of Gail Collins Dalton, died June 14, 2016, at Regional Hospice Home.  Born July 10, 1949, he was a son of Betty McKinney Dalton Bishop and the late Willard Dalton.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters, Tara Posner (Michael) of Greenville, SC, and Erin Harrison (Stephen) of Hendersonville, NC; grandchildren, Elijah, Eden, and Wren Posner, Elliott and Silas Harrison, and step-granddaughter, Emma Kate Harrison.  He is also survived by stepbrother, Danny Bishop of Arizona and stepsister, Janis Summers of Columbia, SC.   In addition to his father he was predeceased by a brother, Wayne, and sisters, Brenda and Janice; and step-father, Oliver Bishop.

Johnny was a graduate of Chesnee High School and attended Gardner Webb College. He worked in insurance sales for many years and was co-owner of Bargain Host.  He was a member of First North Baptist Church where he was a former children’s Bible Fellowship teacher many years.   The lights of his life were his children and grandchildren known and beloved by them as Papa John.  He played several musical instruments: guitar, sax, trumpet, and keyboard.  Golf was his favorite pastime and he cheered for the SC Gamecocks in sports.  Although his light has gone out here on earth, it will be shining brightly in heaven when he meets his “Daddy”.

Memorial services will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2016, at Chesnee Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Turner officiating.  Visitation will immediately follow the service.
