John J. Martino

COWPENS, SC:   John Joseph Martino, 79, husband of Mildred (Millie) Martino, passed away May 20, 2017, at Spartanburg Regional.   Born in New York City, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine Caruso Martino.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Joseph John Martino (Diane) of Browns Mills, NJ; two daughters, Jonna M. Martino of Clearwater, Fl. and Angela M. Page (Eddie) of Campobello, SC.  He was predeceased by a son, David F. Martino (Kimberly);  six grandchildren, Joseph John Martino, Nicholas A., Andrew David, Rachel N. Doty, Lauren N. Martino, and John W. Doty. 

Mr. Martino was a member of Skylyn Drive Presbyterian Church ARP Synod where he was Head Usher for the second year. His home state was New Jersey where he retired from the New Jersey DMV as an Investigator. He was a Lt. Jr. Grade Veteran of the US Coast Guard during the Korean War serving 4 years active and 4 years in the reserves.  He was an avid coin and stamp collector and had a great love for his church and his family, especially enjoying his grandchildren.

Memorial service with military honors by the American Legion Post 200 will be at Skylyn Drive Presbyterian Church ARP Synod, 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 24, 2017, with the Rev. Peter A. Waid officiating and music to be  under the direction of Mrs. Donna Belue.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Skylyn Drive Presbyterian Church ARP Synod, 1801 Skylyn Dr., Spartanburg, SC, 29307.
