Gene Owens

SPARTANBURG, SC:   Willis “Gene” Owens, 80, husband of Betty Arthur Owens died Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital.  He was the son of the late Ivory “Mud” Owens and Lottie Turner Owens.

He was a member of Cannon’s Camp Ground United Methodist Church, served in the Army National Reserves six years, and retired after 42 years from Norfork Southern Railroad as a clerk.  He was an avid golfer during his spare time.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Arthur Owens, and his son, Arthur E. Owens and wife, Rhonda.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 30, at Cannon’s Camp Ground United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. James Ivey officiating.  The family will receive friends at graveside after the service.
