SPARTANBURG – Francis Thomas Murph, Sr., 90, died Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. Mr. Murph was the beloved husband of Elizabeth Louise “Lou” Murph and the son of the late Walter Nettles Murph and Gertrude Brannon Murph.
Mr. Murph worked his entire life in Maintenance at Drayton Mills until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church where he was a devoted and supportive member and he served with the U. S. Army, Technician Fifth Grade, in World War II.
In addition to his wife of 67 years he is survived by a grandson, Austin Murph and his wife Kaycie Alley Murph of Spartanburg. Mr. Murph, the last surviving member of his immediate family, was predeceased by his son, Francis Thomas “Tommy” Murph, Jr. and Tommy’s wife, Karen Theo Murph; two brothers, Charles and Bill Murph; and two sisters, Mila M. Hayden and Mary M. Giles.
Visitation will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 21, 2016 at Bobo Funeral Chapel followed by services at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Brian Gilmer and Rev. Wayne Major. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with military honors by American Post #28.
