Betty Webb Jones

SPARTANBURG, SC:  Betty Webb Jones, 79, wife of Larry Jones, passed away December 17, 2017 at Regional Hospice Home.   Betty was born and reared in Wilson, NC, to the late James Edward Webb and Marguerite Browne Webb Hardison.  She graduated from Charles L. Coon High School in Wilson and moved to Florida where she met and married Larry Jones who was in the US Navy.  They moved to Indiana, Larry’s home, where they lived about 20 years and had their family.  While there, Betty attended Purdue University.  They then moved to Spartanburg, SC, where they have been for 37 years, when Larry was transferred by R.R. Donnelley.  Always a lover of Florida, they bought a house in Port St. Lucie, FL in 2012 where they wintered each year after finishing their motorhome lifestyle.  Mrs. Jones was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.  She enjoyed gardening, oil painting, had a heart for animals and loved her Yorkie, Sassy.

In addition to her husband she is survived by four children:  Larry David Jones Jr.  of Spartanburg, SC, Kenneth Glenn Jones (Brenda) of Spartanburg, SC, Randy James Jones (Wendy) of Bedford, VA, and Michael Allen Jones (Kelli) of Murphy, NC; eight grandchildren:  Lauren Miller, Lindsey Cantrell, Jessica Augeri, Megan Garner, Mark Jones, Scott Jones, Katelyn Jones, and Caleb Jones; two great grandchildren:  Caroline Miller and Thomas Cantrell; a sister, Judy Webb Felton Autry (Paul) of Cedar Point, NC.  In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a brother, James Edward Webb, Jr., and step-father Edward Bickett Hardison.

Visitation will be 2:00-3:00 p.m., Thursday, December 21, at Eastside Baptist Church, 1850 Fernwood Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC, 29307. The service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Mike Royal and Pastor Brandon Grigg officiating.  Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson, NC, Saturday, December 23, 2017, at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eastside Baptist Church, 1850 Fernwood Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC, 29307.
