Spartanburg – Bessie Steadman Christopher, 96, died Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Magnolia Manor of Spartanburg.  Mrs. Christopher was the daughter of the late Palmer and Mae Tolleson Steadman and was the wife of the late Harold D. Christopher.

            Mrs. Christopher was a bookkeeper for B & B Photographic Studios prior to her retirement.  She was a member of Skylyn United Methodist Church where she attended for 59 years without missing a Sunday.  Her favorite pastimes were working jigsaw puzzles and gardening.

            Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Knott and her husband Ron of Rock Hill, SC and Nancy Knight of Dacula, GA;  two grandsons, Michael Sproles and Odious Odell “Trey” Knight, III; two great-grandchildren, Michael Sproles, Jr. and Kristi Sproles; one great-great-grandchild, Ethan Claar; one brother, Ned J. Steadman of Virginia Beach, VA; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, John, J. B., Pete, and Claude Steadman.

            Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Bobo Funeral Chapel.  Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Bobo Funeral Chapel officiated by Rev. James Carter.  Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Mausoleum.

            The family will be at the home of longtime family friend, Gayle Sherbert.
