Bertha Mae Gore Parker
Spartanburg, SC: Bertha Mae Gore Parker, born June 24, 1934, died February 4, 2018 at 83 years old. She was the widow of Welton L. Parker whom she was married to for 62 years at the time of his death in 2015. She was the daughter of the late James Daniel and Pauline Willis Gore.
Mrs. Parker was a member of Thompson Chapel Baptist Church. She worked for the Converse Mill, District 3 Cafeteria, Spartanburg Medical Hospital in the pharmacy, and retired from Arrow Automotive.
Mrs. Parker was affectionately known as Granny by a family whom she loved dearly, a daughter-in-law Denise Parker; grandsons Derek L. Parker and wife Karilyn of Moore, and Jared E Parker of Boiling Springs; a great grandson Weston E. Parker of Moore; sisters Emily Martin, Floree David; a brother Harley Gore all of Spartanburg; sisters-in-law Helen Gore and Ann Gore; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her surviving family she is predeceased by her son L. Earl Parker; brothers Haskell and Lawrence Gore; sisters Edith G. Hollifield and Annie Guelin Gore; brothers-in-law James “Bug” Martin and Boyce Hollifield.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am Tuesday February 6, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Park officiated by Chaplain Marie Graeper.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Mrs. Parker’s honor to Bobo Funeral Chapel, 1860 Cannons Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
